Ada Pruitt

IN LOVING MEMORY of Ada Vera Pruitt, who went to be with her Lord on September 29, 2008.

Born in Culver City on December 9, 1924, to John D. and Artha Struthers, Ada grew up in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. During World War II, she aided the war effort, moving to Seattle to work for Boeing Aircraft Co. She married her high school sweetheart, William O. Bill Pruitt, Jr.then an ensign in the U.S. Navyin Philadelphia on October 11, 1944.

After the war, they returned to Washington State, where Bill completed his education at Washington State University, Pullman. They moved to Davis, CA in 1957, where Bill took a job at the University of California in Water Science and Engineering. Ada worked for Davis Medical Group, as secretary for the department of Water Science and Engineering at UC Davis, and as administrative assistant for University Covenant Church, where she and Bill were founding members.

Adas joys included traveling the world with her beloved husband as he taught and researched, and exploring her familys Scottish heritage. She dearly loved her church and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who knew her as the best Grammie ever. Most of all she loved her Savior and Lord.

She is survived by Bill Pruitt, her loving husband of 64 years; sisters Illa Glenn and Nancy Ortman; children Joy McSweeney, Tina McClara, Lisabeth Angell and William J. Pruitt; grandchildren Ryan and Sean McSweeney, Ben and Nick McClara, Julianne Mauldin, David Ice, Tabatha McMahon, and Marie, Ellen and Christopher Pruitt; four great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Viewing for family and friends is available at Wiscombes Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St., Davis on Thursday, October 2nd from 68 p.m. Memorial services will be held at University Covenant Church, 315 Mace Blvd., Davis, on Friday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m., with reception following. A private burial for family and close friends will take place at Davis Cemetery following the memorial.
