Alvin Dale Lucas passed in the early hours of Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was 77 years old. He was very close to, and enjoyed spending time with his children Dondra (Lucas) Nickell, Debbie (Lucas) Press, Jerry Lucas, and Dana (Lucas) Andersen, his grandchildren Kyle Lucas, Ryan Andersen (Salina), Tanner Press, Corey Lucas, Ashlin Andersen, and Casey Gray (Mason), and his great grandchildren Kaden Gray, and Reagan Andersen. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Lucas.
Al or Luke, as he was known to many, was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He moved to Davis, California in his early teens, graduated from Davis Senior High (class of ’61), and raised his family in Davis. He spent most of his career working at UCD, as a Manager in the Mail Division. After retiring from UCD, he did handyman and roofing work for local residents. He liked to keep busy, and had many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, golf, and spending time with family.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Alvin H. Lucas, Pauline Lucas, and his siblings Donald Lucas, and Betty (Lucas) Wentz.
Alvin served in the Army, as a paratrooper. He will be laid to rest in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, in Dixon, California. Due to current restrictions, a private ceremony will be held for Alvin’s immediate family. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
