Nabor Arthur Garcia died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Friday, May 25, 2007 at age 72.
Arthur was born January 15, 1935 in Davis to Eleuterio Vega Garcia and Emeteria Magana Garcia. He had been a lifetime resident of Davis and graduated from Davis High School. Arthur served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany and was discharged in 1956. Arthur retired from the University of Davis in 1991, after 30 years. For the last seven years, he lived in Woodland with his niece Virginia and her family. Arthur was an active member of the Senior Citizens.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Eleuterio and Emeteria Garcia and siblings: Consuelo Villalon and Henry Garcia.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Michele Light; three grandchildren; brothers: Joseph (Hope) Garcia of Elverta, Alfred Garcia of Woodland, Fernando (Ramona) Garcia of Northgate, Fred (Wilma) Garcia of Jackson; sisters: Carmen (Baltazar) Vara of Davis, Rosario Vildales of Woodland, Hopie (Francisco) Gomez of Northgate, Mickie (Rudy) Hernandez of Sacramento, Mary Lou (Ernest) Hernandez of Davis, Irene Baker of Citrus Heights as will as numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, 14th and B Streets in Davis. Interment will follow at Davis Cemetery.
