Catherine (Katie) Carrion, 88, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis.
Katie was born October 30, 1928 in Guinda, the daughter of Vito and Antonita Biasi. She grew up in Winters and was married to Eusabio (Sabe) Carrion in 1947.
Katie started working at a young age alongside her siblings and parents in the local fruit harvest picking figs and apricots. In the following years, she worked part time at Tufts Packing Shed, Mariani Nut Co., and Daisy’s Cafe.
She took pride in raising her six children. She was very involved and supportive in their school and sports over the years. Katie was an avid sports fan with her most recent favorite sport being basketball and cheering on the Warriors. She also enjoyed her hand at bingo and trips to the casino along with regular card games like “Pedro” with her family.
Katie was a very strong, loving, selfless and caring wife, mother and grandma. She will be greatly missed by her entire family and all that knew her.
Katie is survived by her six children, Jennifer Trafican, Dave (Iris) Carrion, Chuck (Sandi) Carrion, Sam (Vicki) Carrion, John (Kristie) Carrion and Kathy Wisdom, along with her 15 grandkids and 26 great-grandkids. She is also survived by her three siblings, Pat Biasi, Sam (Sandi) Biasi and Angie (Tracy) Murphy.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sabe Carrion, her siblings Margaret Toombs, Bill Biasi, Joe Biasi and Vito Biasi, her grandson Michael Miller and great grandson Joseph Trafican.
A Rosary is planned for Monday, Oct. 30, from 6-8 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Winters. Funeral services celebrating Katie’s life will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m., with burial following at the Winters cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Diabetes or MS Foundations.
