Charlotte "Char" was born in Tillamook, Oregon on November 11, 1925, although her family insisted she was actually born on November 9, 1925! She passed away quite suddenly on November 13, 2012, two days after her 87th birthday. Those left behind to keep her memory alive include her loving husband of 66 years, Vern Burton; daughters Maryn (Bill) Mason and Anice (Bob) Isaacs along with her granddaughters Kimberly Mason, Audra (Kory) Anderson, Rebecca Mason & Ashley (Bowie) Nolan. Family was most important to Char and always came first. When her daughters were young, Char was very active in their schools and with the PTA organization, holding offices all the way to the State level. As her daughters grew up, she rejoined the workforce as a bookkeeper, retiring from the Viticulture & Enology Department at UC Davis in 1989. Char was a long time golf enthusiast and had many friends both at Davis Municipal & El Macero Golf Courses. In addition, she was an accomplished musician as a pianist/organist. Char played for pure enjoyment and as a church organist for many years. She loved playing bridge with friends and family, card or board game and even the poker machines in South Lake Tahoe. Char was an avid reader of mystery novels, loved knitting, crocheting and needlepoint and was an extraordinary seamstress. Additionally she was a dedicated sports enthusiast. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2012 beginning at 2 pm at the University Retirement Community Third Floor Lounge, 1515 Shasta Drive, Davis, California.
