Clyde C. Baker, Jr., 85, of Davis passed away May 30, 2007 at his home. He had been an area resident for the past 53 years.
Clyde was born November 14, 1921 in Richmond, California to Gladys Mae and Clyde C. Baker, Sr. He graduated from Richmond Union High School and attended U.C. Berkeley. Clyde excelled in academics and graduated with honors. He was a librarian at U.C. Berkeley until 1953. Prior to accepting his post as librarian at U.C. Davis in 1954, Clyde took a world tour as a passenger on a cargo ship. He worked as assistant chief librarian until his retirement. Clydes love of books and knowledge sustained him for all his life. He was aided in the last years of his life by his dear friend, Greg Isenhart and his beloved dog.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Jean A. Baker.
To honor Clydes wishes, no service will be held. Interment took place in the family crypt at Sunset View Mausoleum in El Cerrito.
