Coleman Thomas Randall

Mr. Coleman Thomas "Tom" Randall, Sr of Davis died on Sunday, June 5, 2022 of heart failure at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Davis he was 89 years old.
 
Born in Norfolk, Virginia to Campbell Lanier Randall, Sr and Mary Elizabeth Randall nee' Hall on July 7, 1932 and after a period of residing in Atlanta he moved to California after the birth of his first and only child Coleman Thomas "Tom" Randall, Jr in 1967 and after his marriage to his first wife Marinell Hartley Barnes on October 19, 1963 that ended in divorce in 1970.
 
He married his second wife Barbara Beck in Davis on December 22, 1983 and they enjoyed a happy marriage for 38 years.
 
He served as a Private in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and subsequently worked as a teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools in the years following his military service.
 
After he moved to California, he worked for the California Department of Corrections for 28 years from 1969-1997 as a Teacher and a Librarian at the California Medical Facility Prison in Vacaville prior to his retirement.
 
His major interests were jogging, playing bridge and being a member of local bridge clubs and sailing on a boat he once owned and traveling the country. And was an active member of the Deciples of Christ Church in his younger years.
 
He was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings and his first wife and some of his previous stepchildren.
 
He is survived by his wife Barbara Beck-Randall and his step children, Theresa Grunder of Woodland and his step-grandchildren Allison and Camille Grunder, his son Coleman Thomas "Tom" Randall, Jr and his sisters-in-law Helen Randall of Decatur, Georgia and Mary Randall of Midlothian, Virginia and numerous nephews and nieces.
 
A commital service will be held on Thursday, September 15th at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620-7235 from 12:00 Noon to 12:30 p.m. and the event is open to public attendance.
 
Donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
