Darlene M. Arendt

June 18, 1933 — March 8, 2025

Darlene M. Arendt, a longtime resident of Redlands, CA passed away March 8 in Auburn, CA.

Darlene was born June 18, 1933, in Fargo, North Dakota to Lawrence and Margaret Ukestad. She was the third of five children and attended Shanley High School in Fargo. In 1952 she married her sweetheart, Jerome (Jerry) Arendt. They made their home in Fargo until moving to Redlands in 1960 where they raised their three children, all of whom attended Sacred Heart School and Redlands High School.

Darlene’s husband loved to fly his Cessna airplane, so, despite her fears, she studied and took lessons, receiving her private pilot license in 1974. She and Jerry enjoyed many years of flying together in that airplane. They were longtime members of the San Gorgonio Aero Club. She attended Crafton Hills College and received her AA degree in Business. She and Jerry purchased a drug store, Prescription City in Redlands in 1977, where they worked together for 13 years before selling the store and retiring in 1990.

After retiring, Darlene and Jerry delighted in spending much of their time travelling and flying their plane to their home in Gonzaga Bay, Baja California, Mexico. Memories of over 40 years spent there with their children, grandchildren, relatives from North Dakota and so many great friends gave them much joy.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerry, and her son, Tim. She is survived by her son Jeff (Gold Hill, OR) and her daughter Judy Perry (Chris) (Davis, CA), three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Smith Funeral Home, 116 D Street, Davis, CA. Interment will be private.
