Esther Laverne Jones Branthaver passed away peacefully on July 30, 2016 at the University Retirement Community in Davis, California at the age of 94. She lived much of her early life in Upper Peninsula Michigan. She married Charles A. Branthaver in Chicago on May 7, 1944. In 1949 Charles and Esther moved to Sacramento where they remained until 1965. During this time Esther became the president of the Twenty-thirtyettes. From 1965-69 they lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1969, the family moved back to Davis and again to Sacramento where Esther completed her Bachelor's degree at California State University at Sacramento in 1978. During her affiliation with CSUS she played an important role as one of the founders of The Renaissance Society on campus. Esther leaves behind four children, seven grandchildren and one sister.
A celebration of Esther's life will be held on September 10, 2016 at 1 o'clock PM at University Retirement Community, Davis, CA.
