Mr. George Shark Chou Chin, of Davis, California, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the age of 80.
George was born to parents Chin Lin Ngoon and Chow Toy King on March 11, 1940 in Burma. He was the 5th eldest son out of 16 children. In 1958, he married his sweetheart, Nelly Chin and they had four children together.
George is survived by his wife Nelly of 61 years; his son, Simon Chin; his daughters Catherine Cheah and Grace Osborne; his brother Steven Chin; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Richard Chin, his third child.
George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. George was also a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He went above and beyond to take care of everyone: his parents, family, friends and all those around him.
He immigrated to the US from Burma and lived in several cities, including San Francisco, Union City, Woodland and Davis. He made many sacrifices so his family could have a better life. He worked for General Motors for over 15 years and retired early, at the age of 56.
He loved to travel, eat good food and socialize. He especially enjoyed camping with his family at Yosemite National Park. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with and tease people.
His family was able to say goodbye and are in peace, knowing that he is returning home to his Heavenly Father and is now with his son, Richard.
During these difficult times, there will be no viewing of the body or a funeral. Instead, a private ceremony amongst immediate family will take place at a later date.
Our family appreciates all those who have enriched George’s life and is grateful for all the condolences and prayers. If you feel inclined, in lieu of flowers, please send your sympathy and support for his surviving wife Nelly to The Chin Osborne Family, at 3038 Ponteverde Lane, Davis, CA. 95618.
