George Atsushi Sawai, 87, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2009 in Davis, CA after a brief illness. He was born on August 4, 1921, in Oakland, CA. George worked as a sales representative for 25 years for the Nichimen Corporation until his retirement in 1989.
George was interned at the Topaz Relocation Camp in Utah during World War II. After the war, he earned his B.A. degree from the University of Utah. He then earned his M.B.A. from New York University. In 1954, he married Murayo Ishikawa (deceased) in Oakland, CA. They enjoyed their 47 years together.
His son, Dr. Earl and his wife Carolyn Sawai of Davis, CA and his daughter Mary and her husband Lester Soo survive him, along with his grandchildren Stacy and Cameron of Orinda, CA.
Friends and family are invited to attend services to be held on June 2 at 11 a.m. at Wiscombes Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D Street, Davis CA 95616.
