Gerald David Scott

Gerald David Scott passed away peacefully at home on Hospice Care in Woodland, CA on February 14, 2025 at age 91. “Jerry” was born on January 1, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA.

He attended Lynwood Adventist Academy in Lynwood, California, graduating in 1952. There he sang in the choir, played the tuba and one time marched in the

Pasadena Rose Parade as a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Eugene Biscailuz Boys Band. After graduation he attended La Sierra College in Riverside, CA. Jerry served in the US Army from 1956-1958 as an X-ray specialist at an evac hospital in Germany. While there he enjoyed playing football. After returning home, he remained in the reserves until 1962.

In February 1959, he met the Love of his life, Karen (Adkins) Scott. After a short courtship, they were married in Van Nuys, California on August 8, 1959. They lived there a short while and in 1960 moved to Woodland.

Jerry successfully sold vehicles in Woodland for 42 years beginning at Midland Chevrolet, Doty’s Heritage Cadillac, and retired from Electric Garage. He was a forty-seven-year member of Woodland Masonic Lodge #81 (serving as Lodge Secretary for thirty of those years), Scottish Rite, Ben Ali Shrine, and the Bedouins Shrine Travel Club. Through the years he participated in Boy Scouts, Woodland Swim Team and the Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Goldie (Garrett) Scott, and his brother Eldon. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Karen, son Jeffrey Scott and family; daughter Deb Scott-Rowe, son-in-law Paul Rowe, and grandsons Kurtis, Garrett, Mason and Matthew.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodland Masonic Lodge, 228 Palm Avenue, Woodland, CA.

Private Family Internment will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children Northern California located in Sacramento, CA.
