Janice Ardans, a long term resident of Davis, passed away August 2, 2019 at home after a short term battle with cancer and courageously living with multiple sclerosis for over 40 years. She and her husband of 57 years, Alex Ardans, made their home in Davis for nearly 50 years.
Janice was born July 24, 1941 in Garland, Utah as there was no medical care in the small mining camp of Silverpeak NV where her parents were living. She spent her early years in the small mining communities of Silverpeak, Gabbs and Tungsten Nevada and attended grade school in Tungsten’s 2 room school and later traveled by bus 50 miles each way to high school in Lovelock, Nevada. Janice was an athlete, playing at age 13 for the Tungsten’s women’s softball team, and she lettered 4 years in volleyball for Lovelock High School. Playing sports meant that she had to take the “late bus” and she wouldn’t arrive home until after 11 p.m and then back on the bus at 7am to make it to school on time. Upon graduation from high school, she attended the University of Nevada, Reno, receiving her Associate’s Degree in Business.
She was the consummate mom and grandmother, who was involved in a myriad of her daughter’s activities; always driving for sports, field trips, etc. She was a strong believer in education, loved traveling, was an excellent gardener, and she had a special cooking talent. Janice had a unique ability to see the good in every situation along with a love for all living creatures.
Janice is survived by her husband, Alex, brother Bill, sisters Sandra and Nancy, daughters Tamara (Gordon), Stephanie (Matt), Melanie(Steve), Angie(Brian) and Jeanette(Bill), grandchildren Trevor, Kate, Courtney, Nicole, Cammie, Tyler, Allie and Carter. A special thank you to JocyAne and Semisi for their loving care they provided to Janice during her final years.
