Jeanne Caldwell Collins passed away on September 7, 2019 at the age of 92. Jeanne was born August 1, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was raised on an Indian Reservation in Altonah, Utah. Her family moved several times, to Salt Lake City, to Oakland, and then to Sacramento where she graduated from Sacramento High School. Jeanne was married to Lewis Elliot Hudson and had two children, Lara and Aaron. Lewis was killed in a plane crash during World War II. Later she married Edwin Bruce Collins, a professor at the University of California Davis, and they had one child, Ann.
Jeanne put her whole heart and soul into everything she did. In addition to raising her three children, she enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader for both her daughters, serving as Speech Director in the youth program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, playing bridge, and playing golf at Yolo Fliers Club. Jeanne loved to travel with her husband and family.
She also loved to entertain in her home, hosting parties for Ed’s graduate students at UCD, her bridge club, and many other social events. Jeanne had an entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating several small businesses throughout her life.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Bruce Collins and her son Aaron Elliot
Hudson. She is survived by her daughters Lara Collins and Ann Collins Majestic (Chris),
her grandchildren Jessica Erickson (Kyle), Paul Majestic (Cassie), Travis Chunn (Katie), Jordan
Majestic (Kayla), Heather McManus (Jason), Cole Hudson (Tiffany), and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit Saturday, September 14th from 9-9:30 AM at Smith Funeral Home, 116 D Street, Davis. Followed by a Graveside Service at 10:00 AM at the Davis Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held after at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at
11:30 AM at 615 Elmwood Dr., Davis.
