John Andrew D’Elia, 70, of Sacramento, CA passed away on February 15, 2025. John was born on March 12, 1954 to the late Peter D’Elia and Signa (Siggi) Dayson. John grew up in Woodside, CA, graduating from Woodside High School. He then went on to UC Berkeley where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration. John was a long-time resident of the Sacramento area and spent his career in Sales, working for many High Tech Companies before retiring from the State of California as a Procurement Specialist.
John was known by his friends and family as the life of the party. He was an active member of his college fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, serving as social chair. After moving to Sacramento, he hosted his own golf tournament, which was as much about the fun as it was about the golf. Later, he played monthly pinochle tournaments with friends from his church, St. Anthony’s.
John was an avid athlete and sports fan. He played on a variety of teams in his youth and spent some of his time at UC Berkeley on the NCAA Baseball Team. As a young adult he played on countless intermural teams and spent many hours rooting on his favorite teams, the Kings, the Giants, and the 49ers. Once he became a parent, he spent his time cheering on and coaching his children in the very sports he loved growing up.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Carole, his brother, David, and his sister, Donna. John leaves his children, Amanda and Adam, his twin brother, Robert, many nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved puppy, Perry Winkle.
A Memorial Service will be held on March 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 660 Florin Road, Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sacramento SPCA in John’s memory (https://www.sspca.org/).
