John Clarence Elich, Sr., 74, of Upper Lake, California and Davis, California passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Sutter Davis Hospital. He had been a resident of both Upper Lake, CA. from 1963, and of Davis, CA. since 1975.
John was born October 11, 1934 in Meyers Flat, California to Margaret and Matt Elich. He attended San Jose State University and then served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. John enjoyed RV traveling, carpentry and gardening. He owned a 60 acre pear ranch in Upper Lake, California since 1963 and retired from farming when he was 62 years old. John was a member of the Lake County Farm Bureau, a Real Estate Property Manager, a California Department of Real Estate Associate, and worked with Geothermal Energy Development in Lake County.
John was preceded in death by his parents: Matt and Margaret; brothers: Anton Elich, Peter Elich, and Nicolas Elich.
John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Olga C. Elich of Davis and Upper Lake, CA; son, John C. Elich Jr, of Davis, CA.; daughter Diane Elich (Darell) Lawver of Cupertino, CA; sisters: Katherine Farley of Redding, CA, Annie Nordstrom of Chico, CA; brother, Joseph Elich of Auburn, CA., as well as his grandchildren: Daniel John Lawver of San Jose, CA and David James Lawver of Campbell, CA.

Funeral services for John will be private for family or by invitation.
