Kerstin Bengtsson Renner, most recently of Woodland, Calif., left us on March 31, 2024, following a short illness. A celebration of life was held on Sunday, April 7.
Kerstin was born in Lund, Sweden Aug. 30, 1939. She was raised and attended school in Skanör. She attended Uppsala University and graduated with degrees in computer science and mathematics.
Kerstin came to the Bay Area to earn her fortune during the 1960s. She did not intend to stay. She hoped to make a fortune and return to Sweden.
Fate intervened when she met Will Renner in 1970. They were married a year later. Kerstin later recalled that she married into kids, cats and dogs. Will had all three. They lived in Davis for many years before moving to Winters.
While she navigated a career as a computer programmer for various entities, Kerstin and Will shared passionate interests in wine, traveling and raising dachshunds.
After Will passed away in 2009, Kerstin continued to travel extensively, eventually visiting more than 50 counties. She maintained an active presence in the RV group she and Will had been part of for many years.
Kerstin was predeceased by brother Kurt (Eva) in 2012 and stepson James Renner (Corri) in 2021. She is survived by three stepchildren: Laura Renner (Pete) of Portland, Ore.; Carol Willams (Gary) of Milton, Fla.; and Robert Renner of Woodland.
Interment is at Davis Cemetery next to Will.
