Laura Irene Manger (Gale) died peacefully at her home in Davis on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Born on Aug. 18, 1922 in Winters, she was raised there by her parents, Archie & Mary Gale, along with her 9 siblings.
She lived in Davis for the past 60 years. Mrs. Manger was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Hayes, 1st husband, Jack Hayes, 2nd husband, Lyle Bud Manger and great grandson, Zane Guse. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Gale of Davis, Gerald Gale of Woodland, Eugene Gale of Winters, her sister, Elizabeth Struss of Danville, sons Gary Hayes, Tom Hayes both of Esparto, Paul Hayes of Camden, South Carolina and daughter Patricia Johnson of Woodland. She was also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and may nieces and nephews. During World War II, she was employed as a telephone operator and waitress. After starting a family, she devoted her energy & talents to home making & raising her children. She enjoyed golfing with friends from Davis and especially visits with friends and her grandchildren at her cabin in Lake Tahoe.
Visitation will be at Wiscombe Funeral Home at 34 Main Street, Suite B in Winters on Sun. Nov. 8 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Memorial service will be at St. Anthonys Parish Hall, 511 Main Street in Winters on Mon. Nov. 9, 2:00 P.M. Interment will be at Winters Cemetery, Tues. Nov.10 at 11:00 A.M.
