Linda Taggard

December 31, 1942 — June 3, 2011

Linda Taggard passed away peacefully at home in Davis on June 3, 2011 with her loving family by her side. She was 68 years old.

Born December 31, 1942 in Fresno, California to Whitey and Ivy Ipsen, she attended Clovis High School and went on to Fresno State University to study nursing. While at Fresno, she met the love of her life, Ken. They married in 1962 and moved around the United States while Ken served in the U.S. Air Force, settling in Davis in 1969. Linda attended UC Davis and earned a BA degree in English in 1985 and her teaching credential a year later. In 2004 she retired from Dixon Unified School District after being a devoted elementary school teacher for 17 years. During retirement, her new passion became traveling, spending time with family, reading and gardening.

Married for 48 years, Linda is survived by her husband and best friend Ken. They were blessed with two children: son Ken Taggard and wife Kari of Roseville; daughter Tami Hansen and husband Eric of Longview, WA. Linda was a wonderful and loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Josh, Kyle, Emma, Sam and Ben. Her sister Carolyn and husband Bill Noble reside in Clovis, CA. She had a niece and three nephews. She will be greatly missed and cherished always by her family. We love you Grandma!

A memorial service will be held at Wiscombe Funeral Home on June 14, 2011 at 11:00 am followed by a celebration of her life at Bistro 33 in Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Linda's name to the Yolo Hospice.
