Lydia Landeros

Lydia S. Landeros died suddenly and unexpectedly after a short battle with ovarian cancer at Kaiser Hospital, on July 10, 2018 in Vacaville, California at the age of 51.

Lydia is survived by her wife, Peggy Gibson and their two children, Chase and Judy as well as her siblings, Odie Landeros, Laura Landeros (Eleanor), Sande Dyer (Eric),  Ida Landeros, Rose Landeros-Hernandez, Felix Landeros, Macario Landeros and Mario Landeros.  She is also survived by her wife’s siblings who consider her a sister, Mike Gibson, Patrick Gibson, Johnny Gibson (Aimee) and Pamela Cole (Paul) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends who she loved so much.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Landeros and her father Felix Landeros.

Lydia was born on November 29, 1966 in Woodland, California to Mary Landeros and Felix Landeros.  She grew up in Davis and graduated from Davis Senior High School in 1984.  Lydia moved to Winters in 2000. She and her wife enjoyed 22 wonderful years together.

Lydia was a service writer at Johnny’s Service Center in Davis California for many years and greatly enjoyed working with people and the unique individuals who made up the Johnny’s family.  Her knowledge and expertise when it came to cars was well-known.  In 2008 when her son, Chase was born she left Johnny’s to begin her most important job of all, mom to her children.  Her daughter, Judy was born in 2014.

Lydia was a charismatic, fun-loving and generous soul.  And her keen sense of humor and ability to make people laugh was legendary. The laughter and joy she brought when she told one of her stories or made a joke was a true gift.  The world is a lesser place without her.  She generously opened her heart and her home to family and friends in hard times and offered love and support to those in need.  She was a profoundly generous human being; awesome mom to her kids; loving friend and a loving and devoted spouse to her wife, Peggy.  Lydia was devoted to her family and was a wonderful, sister, aunt, cousin, and sister-in-law.  Lydia was also involved in sports with her son, Chase and encouraged him to play all the sports; soccer, basketball, baseball, kajukenbo and swimming.  She loved watching him compete and encouraged him to do his best and have fun.  Lydia was just beginning that journey with Judy with t-ball, dance classes and swim lessons.  One of Lydia’s greatest joys was to see her children enjoying sports - she was their number 1 cheerleader.  Lydia was also a huge Seattle Seahawks fan so – Go HAWKS!

A celebration of her life is scheduled for August 5, 2:00 PM at the Winters Community Center. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lydia's life.  If you have Seahawks gear please wear it proudly.  Lydia liked to say “Life is Good” and while her life ended way too early, her life was so very good. The family extends our deep gratitude to three wonderful RNs, Angela, Preet and Lindsey, as well as Dr. Millar, for their extraordinary care and kindness during Lydia’s brief stay at Kaiser, Vacaville. The family would also like to thank teachers Cheryl Moore and Janet Andersen from the Winters Tree House Children’s center for their guidance on helping Chase and Judy cope in this trying time and the extraordinary care and kindness shown following Lydia’s unexpected and tragic passing.
