Melba Silva, age 90, passed away on February 17, 2010 in Sacramento, California. She was born on February 13, 1920 in Oakland, California to Jospeh and Sylvia Capurro. She married Carl Manuel Silva on May 7, 1938 in San Leandro, California, Carl preceded her in death on September 25, 1996.
Melba spent her life doing what brought her the greatest joy, caring for her home and her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were the center of her life.
She is survived by her children, Shirley (Ruben) Paz of Davis, CA; Richard (Dorothy) Silva of Lincoln, CA; Gail (Bill) Vegel of Davis, CA and Dennis (Terrie) Silva of Pleasanton, CA; daughter in law, Tsuneko Silva of Woodland, CA; 9 Grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Silva.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Wiscombe Funeral Home with a Rosary service to follow at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Davis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
