Nelly Chin

Mrs. Nelly Fee Woon Chin, of Davis, California, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the age of 84.

Nelly was born to parents Kow Wong and Thien Lan Chew on August 24, 1938 in Burma. She was the 3rd eldest daughter out of 10 children.

In 1958, she married her sweetheart, George Chin and they had four children together.

Nelly is survived by her son, Simon Chin, daughters Catherine Cheah and Grace Osborne, seven siblings, and seven grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son Richard Chin (her third child) and husband, George.

Nelly was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

She went above and beyond to take care of everyone: her parents, family, friends and all those around her. She was respected and loved by all.

Nelly immigrated to the US from Burma and lived in several cities, including San Francisco, Union City, and Davis. She made many sacrifices so that her family could have a better life.

She was a high school teacher for over 15 years. She loved to travel and eat good food. She especially enjoyed the performing arts.

The family was able to say goodbye to her and are in peace, knowing that she is returning home to her Heavenly Father and is now with her husband, George and son, Richard.

The family appreciates all those who have enriched Nelly’s life and is grateful for all the love, support, and prayers.

There will be no viewing of the body or a funeral. Instead, there will be a celebration of her life among friends and family.
