Patsy Jean Box Hull passed away peacefully on September 3, 2018 at the age of 87 in Woodland, California with family by her side.
Patsy ("Pat") Jean Box was born in Richmond, CA on Feb. 10, 1931 to Benjamin and Anita Donaldson Box. As a child, she, her older sister, June, and her parents moved around a lot due to the Depression and WWII, living in Stockton, Yosemite, San Francisco and Sacramento where she graduated from Sacramento High School in 1948. She was active in High School as a class officer and as a Pepperette helping to organize pep rallies, dances and other school activities. She was also active in Westminster Presbyterian Church youth group.
Following high school, Pat attended Sacramento City College where she joined the Como Amiga Sorority continuing to be involved in the planning of school activities. She graduated from Sac City in 1950 with an AA degree in Business. During the summers while in college and then for 1 year following college she worked for the Franchise Tax Board followed by employment as a secretary to a professor in the UC Davis College of Agriculture. She met her future husband on a blind date during this time. He was attending UC Davis and they knew many of the same people because of sorority/fraternity exchange parties.
She married John Leroy ("Roy") Hull on Oct 7, 1951 in Sacramento, California. She and Roy had five children, living their entire married life in Davis, California. While raising her children, Pat taught herself how to sew and made most of their clothes. She was involved in 4-H as a clothing leader, helping to teach all her girls to sew and a community leader of the Westfield 4-H Club for 30 years. Pat and Roy were avid supporters of all their children’s activities, watching them compete in sports, show their 4-H animals and other projects at the county fair, and helping them with community service projects in the area. She and Roy square danced for many years and traveled all over the United States and to many places around the world. Pat loved to play cards and games especially bridge and pinochle belonging to several groups. She continued to play bridge with the same "girls" that she started with right after getting married up until the last few months of her life. Pat was an avid seamstress, quilter, knitter and cross-stitcher through-out her life making many beautiful items for her children and grand-children. She loved Christmas and spent many hours decorating, entertaining and cooking for the holiday.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2010, her sister June and her parents. She is survived by her children, Nancy Barnes (Rick), John Hull (Claudia), Sharon Anstead (Rod), Julie Garcia (Ed) and Bonnie Simas (Chris),13 grand-children and 4 great-grand-children.
