Paul Sprague 83, of Dixon passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009. He had been an area resident for over 35 years.
Paul was born June 12, 1925, in Hiawatha, Kansas to Bert and Julia Sprague. As a young man Paul worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, as did his future wife. Paul spent the last 13 years of his working life as a Public Works Inspector for the City of Vacaville, prior to that he worked as a Licensed Surveyor and a Business Owner. Paul retired in 1986. Paul and Eileen moved to the area in 1973 and lived in Woodland, Yuba City, Dixon and Davis.
Pauls life long love of electronics and generally all things technical helped inspire his son Douglass career choice as an electronics engineer and entrepreneur. Paul was also instrumental in starting his son Roberts career in building and development. Pauls insatiable curiosity encouraged his daughter, Teri to pursue her interests in business, animals and horticulture. As a younger man Paul was a private pilot and his love of aviation fueled his childrens love of the same.
Just one year ago Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Eileen. Paul is survived by his two sons Douglas and Robert and his daughter, Teri Almond. Douglas resides in St. Louis, Mo., with his wife Rachel and son Fletcher; Robert resides in Davis with his wife Karen and children Alex, Max and Hunter, and Teri resides in Hollis, NH, with her husband Bill and daughter Kelly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13th at 11:00am at Wiscombes Davis Funeral Chapel 116 D Street, Davis. Interment will follow at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road.
