Pearl Davidson Bringhurst was born Jan 6, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and passed away April 9, 2013, in Davis, California, her residence for the past sixty years. She was the daughter of Daniel and Jane Sutherland Davidson, immigrants from Hopeman, Scotland, and was preceded in death by her four brothers, four sisters, and her husband, Royce S. Bringhurst. Pearl is survived by her children: Jean Bringhurst Anderson, Florence Bringhurst Nielsen (Lawrence), Marla Bringhurst Vaughn (John), Ann Bringhurst Huffaker (Ray), John Royce Bringhurst (Betty Farnsworth), and Margaret Bringhurst Dobbins (Jack); 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She lived in extraordinary times. Born during the devastating flu epidemic of 1918-1919, having endured the loss of her father at age 4 and the Great Depression during her early years, she married her high school sweetheart after the outbreak of World War II. Pearl graduated from Granite High School and earned her Bachelors degree from the University of California at Davis at the age of 57. She reared six children, moving and supporting her husband during war years, his education, and his career with the University of California. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and worked with her husband in the Oakland temple for many years. Royce and Pearl served a mission together in Chile. She was a life-long lover of poetry and literature, leaving us many of her own poems and stories. With her passing, the heart of our home has left, but her legacy lives. A viewing will be held Saturday, April 13, a.m. With services to follow at 10 a.m. At The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 785 Elmwood Drive in Davis.
