Raul Valdez, 67, of Winters California, passed away June 15, 2008 in Woodland. He had been an area resident for the past 42 years.
Raul was born March 21, 1941 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Jose and Andrea Valdez. He came to California in 1967 where he worked in farm labor and this is when he met Lucia Rodriguez. They married in November 1968 and made their home in Winters where they have lived for 42 years. Raul worked for Johnsons Farm Machinery in Woodland for 28 years and retired in 2003. He worked part-time for Sun-Sweet Dryers for a couple years. Raul enjoyed taking care of his grandson and hanging out with all his friends at the Eagle Drug bench. He liked to ride his bike and spend time reading, watching boxing and helping others.
Raul is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lucia Valdez; daughter, Theresa Correa and husband Jose of Winters; son, Raul Valdez, Jr. and Megan Hill of Esparto and his only grandson, Nicolas Correa of Winters.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wiscombes Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D Street in Davis. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. also at Wiscombes Davis Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at Winters Cemetery.
