Richard A. Tingle, 92, of Sacramento and formerly of Davis, CA, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 at his home. He had been an area resident for over 30 years.
Richard was born February 27, 1917 in Carroll County, Mississippi to Emma and Nathan Tingle. He was raised in Greenwood, Mississippi. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. He married Jane Carpenter in 1942 in Greenwood, Mississippi. He lived in Woodland from 1956 to 1967. Richard worked as a custodian at U.C. Davis for 26 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Richard loved to make treasures for his family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Tingle on September 14, 2000; sister, RosaLee Gorham and brothers: Morris Tingle, Jimmy Lee Tingle and Lewis Tingle.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Linda (Steve) Gonsoulin; brother, Curtis (Gina) Tingle and sister, Estelle Claridy both of Holcomb, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Richards memory to the Arthritis Foundation 3040 Explorer Drive #1 Sacramento, CA 95827.
Private family services were held at Davis Cemetery.
