Richard George Wilson was born on February 22, 1935 in Salem, Oregon, to Ford W. Wilson, Sr. and Evelyn Leota Hale. Richard passed away on September 25, 2024 from congestive heart failure at the age of 89.
After attending Willamette University in Oregon, Richard embarked on a 35-year career with the California Department of Transportation as a civil engineer.
Richard was a Diamond Life Master Bridge Player, and was proud to be among the top 2% for master points with the American Contract Bridge League. He played several times a week, and especially loved traveling in the United States playing in tournaments.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Susie Sadler Storer in 1989. The two traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad. They settled in Sun City Del Webb, Roseville, for the remainder of their lives. Susie preceded Richard in death on June 23, 2017.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Linda Venable (Thomas), son, Randy Wilson (Alexia), step-daughter, Dana Heald, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ford E. Wilson, Jr.
In later years, Richard enjoyed watching all sports on TV (especially golf and football), loved weekly visits with his daughter and son-in-law, and especially enjoyed snuggles with his grand-doggie, Oreo. (Sadly, Oreo passed away from congestive heart failure 12 days after his grandpapa died.)
Those wishing to make a donation in Richard Wilson’s behalf are encouraged to donate to a local SPCA.
