Robert Clarence Daubenmire, age 93, passed away peacefully in a private care home in Davis, California on July 1, 2016 at 2:35 am. Robert was known as Bob to his family and friends. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio on March 14, 1923 to Clarence D. Daubenmire of Rushcreek Township, Ohio and Alice M. Darfus of Pleasant Township, Ohio. He grew up in Lancaster, Ohio then after serving in the military moved about 1945 with his wife Catherine Fletcher to San Mateo County, California. Living there, along with five years in Alexandria, Virginia, they raised 8 children. In 1984 Bob moved back to Lancaster, Ohio and married Mary Hoffman. Mary passed away in 2012, and Bob returned to California to be near his children.
Bob was the oldest sibling. His sister is Ann Daubenmire of Cincinnati, Ohio (Robert Altman deceased) and brother is Richard "Dick" Daubenmire (Martha "Marty" Emrick) of Florida.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wives Billie Burnett, Catherine Fletcher, and Mary Hoffman; and his son Terry Daubenmire (mother Billie Burnett).
He is survived by 8 of his 9 children: Edward Daubenmire, Barbara Daubenmire McCormick (Buz McCormick), Carolyn Daubenmire Sanchez (Tino Sanchez deceased), Robert Joseph Daubenmire (Jennifer Billeci), Jeffery Daubenmire, Gregory Daubenmire (Nancy Reeder), Marie Daubenmire Cape (Randall Cape), Michael Daubenmire (Tracie McArdle).
His grandchildren: Andrew McCormick (Cheryl Christy), Timothy McCormick, Amy McCormick, Michael Sanchez (Erica Anzalone), Christine Sanchez, deceased (Danilo Kentera), Theresa Sanchez Lewis, Kira Daubenmire (Ben Torre), Emily Daubenmire, Kaitlyn Daubenmire, Ryan Daubenmire, David Cape and Kathleen Cape.
Great grandchildren: Wes Christy (Mary McIntyre), Makayla McCormick, Emily McCormick, Christian McCormick, Nikola Kentera, and Sabrina Ali (mother Theresa Sanchez Lewis).
Bob's stepchildren (Mary Hoffman and John Benca): Donna Benca Pence (Dave Pence), their son Todd Pence (Sarah Walker), their daughter Kara (Brent Schrader); Mike Benca (Pam); Linda Benca Acton (Frank Acton), her sons Kurt Phillips (Elizabeth), Doug Phillips (JoAnn), and Andy Phillips; and 10 great grandchildren.
Bob worked for United Airlines at locations near San Francisco and Washington D.C., retiring as a manager after 30 years with the airline. He loved sports of all kinds but especially golfing with a group of friends including his cousin Bill Daubenmire at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Lancaster. Bob enjoyed travel around the world on his United Airlines pass, and he particularly cherished being surrounded by family.
There will be a Mass in celebration of Bob's life at 10:00 am on Wednesday July 6, 2016, with a viewing at 9:00 am. Location Saint James Catholic Church, 1275 B Street, Davis, California. Father Rey will officiate.
Bob's cremated remains will be interred next to his late wife Mary Hoffman Daubenmire in Saint Mary Cemetery, 1500 S. Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio, at a later date. Check the on-line obituary page at www.smith-funerals.com for an update to this event.

Graveside Service There will be a graveside service for Robert C. "Bob" Daubenmire at Saint Mary Cemetery, 1500 S. Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio on Saturday August 6, 2016 at 10:00 am. Bob's remains will be buried next to his wife of 27 years Mary Hoffman Daubenmire. Father Thomas Kessler of St. Bernadette Parish will be the officiant.
