Rosemary Schroeder Adamski finished her earthly journey on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014. She was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on Dec. 28, 1930 to Bernard and Margery Schroeder, a local farming family. She became a registered nurse in 1951 after graduating from Sioux Valley Nursing School in South Dakota. Rosemary worked at the VA hospital located on Ft. Meade in Sturgis, S.D., where she met and married local boy, Richard Adamski, on Aug. 13, 1953. Rosemary always said she was a small town girl who wanted to leave the farm for the BIG city and to travel. Her dreams came true. During Richard's long military career and throughout retirement, together, they did indeed travel the world. Together, the family lived and traveled throughout Europe. With Dick, she lived in Egypt and traveled extensively through Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Russia. By far, her favorite site was Israel. Rosemary's final journey will be to the National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D., where Richard is interred. Rosemary was a loving wife and mother. She raised four children while Dick was frequently absent due to military duty. She will be missed by many including: Shelly Adamski Morris and Scott Morris, Karen Adamski Hearth and Doug Hearth, Jeff and Heidi Adamski, James and Jean Adamski; and nine grandchildren, and her first great-granddaughter. Rosemary's favorite activities were to spend time with her family and friends, travel and play bridge! She made and cherished many long-term friends throughout her lifetime and travels. Rosemary and Richard moved to Davis in 1974 from Alexandria, Va. Rosemary worked as a nurse at UC Davis Student Health Center and Woodland Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1992. After retiring, Rosemary continued her active life, traveling and helping others. She volunteered for Citizens Who Care, Daughters of the American Revolution and her church. Most importantly, she continued her bridge games with her 'Buddies.' Services will be held at Saint James Catholic Church in Davis, at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27. The family will host a celebration of life in Davis immediately after the service. More detailed information about the celebration of life will be shared at the service. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Doctors without Borders (doctorswithoutborders.org), Rosemary's favorite charity.
