Rudy Garcia Gonzalez

Rudy Garcia Gonzalez, 73, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 with his wife by his side. He was a devoted Christian who fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. He is now in the hands of a loving, merciful, and faithful God who always fulfills His promises.

Rudy was born in Atoyac, Jalisco, Mexico on January 25, 1949. He spent the first several years of his life in Mexico and moved to Winters, California with his mother at the age of 8. Rudy enjoyed sports and participated in football and track in high school. Three years after graduating from Winters High School (Class of 1968), Rudy enlisted in the United States Army where he served for two years (1971 – 1973). He is a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1977. Rudy also became a U.S. citizen in 1977.    

Rudy met Gail Annette Green in the summer of 1986 and they were married on October 10, 1986 in Reno, Nevada. They have two sons together (Rudy Garcia Gonzalez II and David Augustin Gonzalez) and remained happily married for 35 years.

Rudy committed his life to Christ by being buried with Him in baptism in August of 1995. He was a faithful member of the Davis church of Christ where he often led prayers, served on the Lord’s table, read Scriptures, and used his God given talents to help the church.

Professionally, Rudy worked for many years as an electrician for a manufactured homes company before becoming a handyman and running his own business. He also worked for several businesses in downtown Davis. Rudy had numerous hobbies, including a particular love for fishing, gardening, woodworking, and watching sports. He was also an outstanding cook and was especially known for his famous Chili Verde.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gail Annette Gonzalez, sons, Rudy Garcia Gonzalez II and David Augustin Gonzalez, and daughters, Kristie Diane Gonzalez and Angel Elizabeth Dizonno. Rudy is also survived by his brother, Ramiro Jimenez, numerous in-laws, Richard and Reta Green, Stephen, Mary, and Autumn Green, Raymond and Sydney Wood, Stanley Green, Michael, Sarah, and Arabella Green, and many friends.
