Rudolph Frank (Rudy) Inderbitzen passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2017 at the Davis Carlton Senior Living community surrounded by his family.

Rudy was born on August 10, 1927 in Dixon California, the second of three sons of Louis and Frida (Jurgens) Inderbitzen.

Following graduation from Dixon High School in May 1945, Rudy joined the US Navy, serving to September 1947.

After his Navy service, Rudy attended the University of California Davis, College of Agriculture, and in January 1950, completed a two year curriculum in Agriculture majoring in Dairy Industry.

While attending classes, Rudy worked part time in the university’s creamery, and accepted a full time position there after completing his studies.

Rudy met his future wife Barbara in April 1954, and the two were married on August 21, 1954 in Houston Texas.  They celebrated 63 years of marriage together.

After their wedding, Rudy and Barbara resided in Davis where they raised two sons.

In the late 1980s Rudy and Barbara assisted their son Jim during his battle with cancer.

Rudy retired in early 1990 having completed 39 years of service to UC Davis, primarily in the university’s Department of Food Science.

After his retirement, Rudy, along with Barbara, enjoyed traveling to visit their son David and daughter-in-law Cathy during their assignments internationally and in the US.

Rudy is survived by his wife Barbara, son David, and daughter-in-law Cathy.

He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Frida Inderbitzen, brothers Vernon Inderbitzen, and Walter Inderbitzen, and son Jim Inderbitzen.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday November 1st at 11 am, at St James Catholic Church in Davis, with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the General Scholarship Fund of St. James School, 1215 B Street, Davis CA 95616; phone (530)756-3946.
