Sandra Reece

August 4, 1948 — May 30, 2008

Sandra Lee Reece lost her courageous battle with cancer on May 29, 2008. She was born in Calexico, CA, to Al and Betty Reece on August 4, 1948. Her family moved to Santa Barbara in 1963 and then to Santa Ynez in 1971. Sandy graduated from San Marcos High School in 1966 and from Westmont College in 1970 with a BA in sociology. Her first job was in the credit department at Sears Roebuck in Santa Barbara. During her 29 years working for several finance and credit companies, she made numerous friendships that continue to this day.

Sandy moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1975. She married Michael Collins in 1990 and they moved to Davis in 2000. She enjoyed various crafts, cooking, entertaining her family and friends and tending her beautiful rose garden. Everyone especially enjoyed visiting Sandy at Christmastime to view her extensive collection of Santas and holiday decorations.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 17 years Michael, her mother Betty Reece, brother Larry Reece, her good friend and father-in-law John Collins, brother-in-law Tim Collins, sisters-in-law Kathy Greear and Liz Azuma, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and her beloved pooch Cassie. Sandy had the unique ability to make friends with people of all ages. She will be remembered for her love of life, her easy laugh, her kind nature and her wonderful smile. As a wife and daughter, she was the best; as a friend there was no one better. Sandy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, June 14, 2008, in the Veterans Memorial Center (203 E 14th St., Davis, CA, 95616). Contributions in memory of Sandra Lee Reece may be made to the Breast Cancer Fund.
