Vera L. Yarberry Bruhn died on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at her home in Winters at age 82. Born on Sept. 15, 1926 in Ada, Okla., to Robert L. and Veda V. (Kirksey) Yarberry, Vera relocated with her family to Winters where she attended local schools graduating from Winters High School in 1945.
Vera married Vernon C. Bruhn two days after graduating from high school. She worked as a dispatcher for the Winters Fire Department and was co-owner of the Winters Nursery. She was also a partner in B&K Woodcraft in recent years.
Mrs. Bruhn is survived by her husband, Vernon; daughter, Elizabeth Ehnat and husband Tom; sons, Vernon E. Bruhn II and wife Katherine; and Jeffery L. Bruhn and wife Linda. She is also survived by grandchildren, Stephen Ehnat and wife Kristin, Denise Ehnat, Jennifer Ehnat, Amanda Ehnat, Michael Bruhn and wife Bernadette, Sylvia Bruhn, Sondra Bruhn, Vernon C. Bruhn II and wife Tiffani, Tristine Wheeler and husband Rich, Jeffery Bruhn and wife Tera, Siobhan Bruhn, Tyquin Johnson and wife Sheryl, and Mistique Chandler. She is also survived by brother, Edgar and his wife Virginia Yarberry. Mrs. Bruhn was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leon Yarberry and sister-in-law Antoinette Carrion Yarberry; and son, Robert Charles Bruhn.
Services: Visitation is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, with a rosary following at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 511 Main St., Winters. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, also at St. Anthony's Church, with burial services at the Winters Cemetery immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Yolo Hospice, St. Anthony's Church Building Fund, or to the Winters Fire Department.
