Wendell Jacob

July 17, 1929 — September 29, 2021

"DAVIS HAS GONE DARK" would be the headline that was, in an mirthful way, envisioned by Wendell P. Jacob for this occasion. Born in Woodland and raised in Davis, Wendell Jacob passed away peacefully September 29th at the age of 92 at his family home in College Park surrounded by his daughter, daughter in-law, son and his fiancé. A gifted storyteller with a wealth of knowledge, he related tales of shenanigans at Davis High School, early jobs and as a 35mm projectionist at Davis' first Varsity Theatre, where his love of the movies was born. Following his service in the United States Air Force and electronic engineering at RCA, he was a well-respected business owner for the last 45 years.  He was known by many as the "Music Man" as he saved, restored and installed in his home the Moller lobby organ from the Fox Theatre, San Francisco. “Our father went to be with his maker. As the heavens make way for a new soul, may he be welcomed with comfort and the angels' ensemble” – Phillip Jacob Wendell. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents who were one of College Park's first residents in 1929.  He is survived by his partner Patricia Fitzgerald, daughter Cynthia Jacob, son Phillip Jacob, 5 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Services will be held on December 14, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Joseph’s Indian School at: www.stjo.org  are welcomed.
