Will Renner passed away peacefully on January 15, 2009 surrounded by his family. Born February 5, 1930 in Spokane,Washington to Paul and Leona Renner, he was 78 years of age
Will grew up in Spokane where he graduated from high school. He went on to serve in the Air Force Reserve from 1948 until 1952. During that time he received training as a photographer. He continued his education in the field of art and photography at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. His first job as a photographer was at St. Josephs Hospital in Burbank, California. He went on to work as a medical photographer at Stanford University and Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto until he accepted the position as manager of Illustration Services at the University of California Davis Medial School from which he retired in 1992.
Will was very active in the Biological Photographic Association (BPA) both at the local and national level. He was one of the first Registered Biological Photographer (RBP) certified by examination. He served as Vice President and President of the association. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Registry and Director of Conferences.
His life long interests included, gardening, travel, photography and great red wines.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kerstin, daughter Laura and her husband Pete, son Robert, son James and his wife Corri, daughter Carol and her husband Gary, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service for the family was held January 18, 2009. A memorial service will begin at 11:00am on February 7, 2009 at Tomats Restaurant, 1123 Grant Ave, Winters.
