William "Bill" Robert Kuznik, known to many as "Kuz", passed away on March 7, 2015. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bill was born March 14, 1931 in Springfield Illinois. The family moved to Vallejo in 1941.
Bill attended Steffan Manor School. He was a charter member of United Presbyterian Church in Vallejo. He graduated from Vallejo College in 1949. While he was in high school he served as Cadet 2nd Lt. in Cadet Corps.
Following High school, Bill worked at Levi Strauss Company in Vallejo as a carpenter from 1949-1950. He enlisted in the United Sates Marine Corps July 26, 1950. He served in the Korean War following bootcamp and was discharged January 19, 1952.
Bill worked at the Benicia Arsenal, and later was hired by Pacific Telephone & Telegraph. He was transferred to Davis in 1960, and retired from AT&T in 1985 as an installer / repairman. He then worked for UCD Physical Plant as an electrician from 1985-1992.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Erma Lee on October 25, 1952. They have been married for 62 years. Children included Renee, Billy and Robyn.
In 1961 the family moved from Vallejo to Woodland, and in 1981 moved to their current home in Davis.
Golfing, fishing, hunting, camping and traveling were the highlights of Bill's life. Traveling towing a trailer or in the RV with trips that included: Alaska, New Mexico Balloon Festival, Nashville Grand Ole Opera, Branson, MO; Woodstock, MN; East Coast, California, Oregon Coast, Quartzsite and Phoenix, AZ, just to name a few.
Bill was a life time member of VFW Post 8762, W. Sacramento and American Legion Post 77, Woodland. He was also a member of NCGA thru Davis Municipal Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife Erma Lee, daughters Renee Kuznik of Woodland, and Robyn (Michael) King of Antelope; grandchildren: James Duncan (Amie) of Michigan, Matthew Chapman of Knights Landing, Jenifer Kuznik of Woodland, and Michael Murphy of Davis; and 5 great grandchildren: Marcos, Jocelyn, Jake, Ryan and Allie.
Preceded in death by his son, William Kuznik Jr.; Parents, Anthony and Dorothy Kuznik; Sisters, Frances Stanton and Virginia Harrison-Winther.
Viewing will be at Wiscombe Funeral Home Tuesday March 17, 2015 from 5-8pm. Graveside services will be Wednesday March 18, 2015 at 11am at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. Following will be a Celebration of Life to be held at VFW Post 8762, 905 Drever St., West Sacramento from 1-5pm.
